[Jonah] Ily. You're amazing and special and ty for being in my life. [/Jonah]
I know this is probably Luke or Jonah's place, but since the Youth Pride Parade is coming up and the Anti-Prom and big Pride and Gay Days (at Disney-s) and stuff are coming up and maybe people don't know what pride is about? If I got anything wrong lemme know.
It might seem like lots of gay people and rainbows, but it's not just that waving flags and having a great time. Yah, it's a celebration but it's more than just like WOO I'M GAY. idk like forever ago, June 1969 there were some gays havin' some dranks is a bar and the cops in NY were like UH NO STOP BEING FAGGY and the gays were just tired of the cops doing this and being homophobic and beating them and raiding their safe places, so they fought back! There was a riot and then they continued for a few nights after. It's generally considered like the first time that gays and lesbians fought back against government oppression like that. It was kind of bloody and violent and people got hurt and idk maybe someone died, but it just became that MOMENT you know.
And so after that the gay political groups were like, lets use this and they created movement, a commemorative parade and for Pride Day, Gay Freedom Day and stuff and in 2000, Prez Clinton declared June to be Gay Pride Month and last year Prez Obama delcared June to be LGBT Pride month.
So it's fun and there are shirtless guys and lots of flags and fun, but it's also very serious and to remember the people that got hurt and fought so that I can walk down the street with a banner and holding my boyfriend's hand. That I have a hope of getting married some day to the person I want to. So we'll go have fun and show people who we are, but also proud of our history and every Matthew Shepard and Larry King and other boy or girl that was hated on for what they are. Because we can.
